Help us review the North Fair Oaks Community Plan!

A Community Plan

A community plan is a document that outlines the goals, priorities, and strategies for a jurisdiction. It serves as a roadmap for future decision-making and development and is developed with input from community members.

North Fair Oaks Community Plan

The North Fair Oaks Community Plan was originally developed in 1979 and updated in 2011. It is a 25-to-30-year plan and is in its 12th year of implementation. The Plan establishes goals for the community and incorporates new policies, programs, and strategies to meet the needs of current and future residents and workers.

Public Engagement

In 2007-2010, the NFO Community Plan was developed with participation of NFO residents as well as guidance of a steering committee made up of stakeholders with knowledge and experience in North Fair Oaks. The Plan also included analysis of community conditions, needs, and community goals. In 2023, we are asking NFO residents for feedback again to incorporate their priorities into the NFO Community Plan Review Project.

Plan Outcomes

There are hundreds of initiatives in the plan that have been completed, are underway or remain to be completed in the future. Some examples include the renovation of Friendship Park and installation of a new shade structure or pedestrian crossing lights, sidewalk widening, and bike lanes along Middlefield Road.

Plan Review Project

In 2022, San Mateo County set out to review the Plan- a project known as the North Fair Oaks Community Plan Review. The review will help us understand what has been completed and what remains for us to do. We are collecting community input from North Fair Oaks residents to help us prioritize the remaining actions in the plan.

Why Evaluate The Plan?

When completed, the North Fair Oaks Community Plan Review will be a tool that can be used by San Mateo County staff to help prioritize projects and allocate resources to improve quality of life in North Fair Oaks. It will help us understand what has been effective and continue to improve ways to achieve the Plan’s goals.
